Why the toughened safety glass is best for greenhouse?(2)
Glass won't bend when subjected to heavy wind or snow loads because it is so rigid. Glass sheets will remain in place even in severe northern gales, whereas plastic sheets would flex and fly out. Our Cold Frames and Mini greenhouses are made to survive 2 to 3 feet of snow without having any issues. A plastic sheet, on the other hand, will budge and drop into the frame, crushing everything inside under the weight of the snow.
We also believe that safety glass is ideal for greenhouses due to its weight. Although the aluminum framework itself is quite light, making the Cold Frames easy to move around the garden, the weight of the glass in the frame will keep the frame on the ground even during winter storms once it has been replaced.
Horticultural glass, which shatter into big, pointy fragments, was customarily used in greenhouses. We only utilize toughened safety glass in all of our greenhouses. This is a lot more durable than gardening glass, and if it does break, it shatters into thousands of little, very harmless fragments, just like a car window. If your home has patio doors or a coffee table with a glass top, these will be provided.
